MicroPass Frequent Traveler Program Terms & Conditions

The following information outlines the terms and conditions for participation in the MicroPass Frequent Traveler Program (the "Program"). Your participation in this Program as a MicroPass Frequent Travel Program Member (a "Member") is governed by these terms and conditions and by joining the Program, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these terms and conditions.

General Membership

1. Program membership and its benefits are offered at the sole discretion of Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc.

2. Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. has the sole authority and right to change, limit, or modify Program terms and conditions, rewards, and reward levels at any time in writing. These powers include, but not limited to, increasing or decreasing the number of nights required to earn a credit or required for a reward, changing rewards, adding blackout dates, limiting rooms available for a reward at any Microtel hotel or changing hotel locations served by Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc.

3. The Program has no predetermined termination date and may continue until such time as Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. decides to end the Program. If such a decision is made, Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. will provide written notice to its Members six months in advance of program termination. Members will then have six months from that date to earn credits and redeem credits for rewards.

4. Membership in the Program entitles Members to earn credits that can be redeemed for free hotel nights in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Program.

5. A Member account may be closed at the discretion of Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. if no credits are accrued through qualifying stays during a 12-month period. If such a decision is made, all credits accumulated in the account may automatically be forfeited.

6. Member privacy is important to us and we take all steps necessary to protect our Members (click here for Privacy Policy). However, it is important that we communicate with our Members periodically to provide information necessary to administer the program. Members may occasionally receive e-mails from Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. about special offers and products. By way of enrollment, all participants in the Program consent to receive all of the kinds of information described above. Members can elect to opt out of e-mails from Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. by contacting MicroPass Member Services via e-mail (www.micropass.com) or the toll-free Member Services telephone number (1-888-373-0092) .

7. Program credits or rewards earned through participation in the Program may subject a Member to tax liability. Any tax liability connected with the use or receipt of Program credits or a reward that may arise is the sole responsibility of the Member.

8. In the case of Member fraud or abuse involving Program credits or award redemption, Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. has the right to take appropriate administrative and/or legal action, which may include forfeiture of all credits and awards earned through the Program and closing of a Member account.

9. Membership in the MicroPass Program may be revoked or suspended at Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc.'s sole discretion if a Member fails to pay any hotel bills when due. If any "Free Night Stay" awards are sold to another person who is not eligible to use the award, the account of the "selling" member will be immediately revoked.

10. The awarding of Program credits and the redemption of Program credits are void where prohibited by law.

11. The Program is operated by Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc..

Conditions of Enrollment

12. Enrollment in the Program may be completed via the web site (www.micropass.com), by calling either MicroPass Member Services (toll-free) at 1-888-373-0092, our central reservations office at (888) 771-7171 or by completing an enrollment application at any Microtel hotel. A MicroPass Member identification card will be issued to the Member after enrollment.

13. Only individuals are eligible for Program membership and each individual may maintain only one account. Corporations, groups and/or associated entities can not enroll as Members. When traveling on business, it is the Member's responsibility to comply with his or her company policy concerning frequency award programs.

14. Employees of Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. and U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc., and their subsidiaries are not eligible to participate in the Program.

Earning Free Night Stay Credits

15. Members earn one (1) credit for each paid night at any Microtel Inn & Suites location. A Member will earn one (1) free night for every nine (9) credits earned at any Microtel Inn & Suites location.

16. Members are eligible to receive free night stay credits for qualifying paid night stay at any Microtel Inns & Suites location if the room is reserved the Member's name and is occupied and paid for by the Member. The Member must present their MicroPass membership number at the time of reservation and at check-in.

17. Other than for paid nights at Microtel Inns & Suites locations, free night stay credits will not be given for paid nights at franchised hotels of any subsidiary or affiliate of Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc. or U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc., unless otherwise advertised. No free night stay credits will be awarded for a qualifying paid stays prior to enrollment in the MicroPass Frequent Traveler Program.

18. MicroPass Members are eligible to earn free night stay credits for up to two (2) rooms per night as long as all rooms are reserved and registered in the Member's name, paid for by the Member and the Member is occupying one of the rooms.

19. Free Night Stay Credits for a room shared by two Members will only be awarded to one Member.

20. Free Night Stay Credits are limited to individual night stays and the Member must occupy and pay for the room. The following lists "Eligible" and "Non-Eligible" Rates for qualified Free Night Awards:

Eligible Rates
  • Prevailing Rack, Corporate and Government Rates
  • Microtel Value Preferred "MVP" Rates
  • AAA and Senior Citizen/AARP Rates (50 years of age or older)
  • Locally or Nationally Negotiated Rates (RFP) the only exception being negotiated rates discounted 30% or greater.
  • Package and Promotional Rates
  • Hotel Brand Website Promotional Rates and Third Party Internet Retail Rates (example: Travelocity.com, Expedia.com and Orbitz.com)
  • Weekend, Special Event and Best Available Rates
  • Group Rates when member is paying for their own room and up to one other room.
Non-Eligible Rates
  • Contract Rates*
  • Negotiated Transportation Rates including Airline Employee or Crew, Distressed Passenger, Trucking or Railroad Crew Rates (example: Corporate Lodging, Creative Lodging, etc.)
  • Any Negotiated Extended Stay Rates discounted more than 30% off Rack Rates.
  • FIT Wholesale or Third Party Internet Merchant Model Rates (example: hotels.com, priceline.com)
  • Group Rates when on a Master Folio and organization is paying for rooms.
  • 50% Discounted Travel Agent or Coupon Book Rates
  • Microtel Employee Rates
  • Complimentary or Barter Rooms

* Contracts are defined as a written and executed agreement between a hotel and a corporation, government agency or individual for a negotiated room rate in exchange for an agreed upon number for rooms to be rented for an extended period of time whether or not that room is occupied. For example: a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) agreement for ten (10) rooms for six (6) months that may or may not be occupied every night.

21. Free Night Awards stays are not subject to earning free night stay credits. Accommodations and reservations for the redemption of Free Night Awards are subject to availability and certain blackout dates may apply.

Account Activity

22. All active MicroPass Members will be able to access their activity account on-line at www.micropass.com or by calling the MicroPass Member Services (toll-free) at 1-888-373-0092.

23. MicroPass Member activity is available for viewing on-line by Members who have earned Free Night Stay Credits or claimed Free Night Awards during the previous twelve (12) months. Members who are not active will need to have their account status reactivated by MicroPass Member Services (1-888-373-0092) in order to review their account on-line.

24. If inaccurate Free Night Stay Credits appear on the Member's account, the Member may send a copy of the paid hotel receipt, along with their MicroPass Member ID Number MicroPass Member Services and receive credit:

Please allow approximately four (4) to six (6) weeks for the adjustments to be credited to the account. Requests to add or modify a qualifying night's stay must be received within ninety (90) days of stay.

Duplicate Accounts

25. If more than one membership number is assigned to an individual, the individual will only receive credit for one account. Duplicate accounts will be merged at Member's request.

Transferring Points

26. No transferring of credits between Member accounts is allowed. Awards may only be redeemed from credits earned by Members in their account.

27. Credits accrued by a member are for the Member's use only and may not be transferred to anyone. Credits are transferable to a legal spouse only in the case of the documented death of a Member. Credits are not transferable to another person for any other reason, including divorce or inheritance.

28. At no time are Free Night Awards allowed to be sold and used by persons other than the registered MicroPass member.

Member Services

29. It is the Member's responsibility to advise MicroPass Member Services of any name, address or email address changes. Please note that "name changes" must be supported by legal documentation. Additionally, MicroPass Member Services should be contacted if a Member wishes to "opt-out" of marketing promotions sent by Microtel Inns & Suites Franchising, Inc.
